GCF will fund and support the setting up of initiatives, organizations, networks and cultural and intellectual spaces and centers that are resonant with its mission, goals and values. It will seek to sustain and aid such entities where they are already extant and in need of support. It will provide support, wherever necessary and possible, for the creation and accumulation of vital assets and infrastructure in the form of building funds, equipment and personnel and administrative costs for such entities.

GCF will endow libraries, chairs and fellowships in order to foster intellectual activity of the highest quality in the humanities and the arts.

GCF will support intellectuals, researchers, scholars, artists, media practitioners and cultural workers (especially but not only from the Global South) with bursaries, travel, research and book grants.

GCF will support residencies for artists, cultural practitioners and researchers and any activities that facilitate inter-disciplinary and collaborative work at local, regional and international levels.

GCF will support the creation of media works, works of art and creative processes.

GCF will support the organization and curation of exhibitions and festivals of creative work, especially in contemporary art and media, with a strong emphasis on work from the Global South and emerging areas.

GCF will publish and support the publication of books, journals, electronic and web content on themes of contemporary relevance.

GCF will actively support ambitious translation projects between different languages so as to foster a genuinely global intellectual conversation.

GCF will support organizations in the holding of master-classes, public lectures, colloquia and seminars in order to foster the highest standards of public intellectual activity.

GCF will support education and scholarly activity in contemporary art, curation, media, film and performance studies and literature, recognizing that education in these areas often lacks support in many countries.

GCF will recognize the contribution made by individuals, organizations and initiatives to the cultural and intellectual life of humanity by instituting, in the long term, an international award for cultural achievements and contributions.

GCF will liaise, network and collaborate with other organizations and initiatives in order to meet common objectives.

GCF will acquire, invest in, and dispose of assets, property and finances in accordance with legal norms and financial probity in order to support its activities and to compensate individuals who work for the foundation.
